THE PUKO CYCLE
WHAT IS THE PUKO CYCLE ?
PLAN
The first and most critical step of the PUKÖ cycle is the planning stage. At this stage, it is decided by whom, why, how, where, when, for how long, the planned work will be carried out. Considering every point at the planning stage, determining the task distributions and goals properly will minimize what will be done at the Take measures stage, which is the last step of the PUKÖ. If the planning stage is not given the necessary attention, the cost of the applications that will be made at the check and take precautions stages will be too much. Decisions to be made when determining work or goals to be done should be based on real data and realistic. If too high goals are set at first and they are not achieved, motivation will decrease and inefficiency will begin.
APPLY
It is the second stage of the PUKÖ cycle. The first stage is the stage when the planned activities are carried out in the specified time and methods. The data obtained from the statistical methods used at this stage constitute the input of the Check stage, which is the third step of the PUKÖ.
CHECK
It is the third stage of the PUKÖ cycle. It is determined how far the planned goals have been achieved. If the goals have been achieved, the implementation activities carried out are checked and standardized.
TAKE PRECAUTIONS
It is the fourth and last stage of the PUKÖ cycle. In itself, it includes the PUKÖ cycle. The causes of the differences, deviations that arise between the planned activities and the applications made are investigated and activities aimed at decimating them are initiated.
